Queens Doc Nabbed With Weapons, Ammo

By Liz Goff
Police arrested an Elmhurst doctor on April 10, after a car stop produced a shotgun and massive amounts of ammunition in his BMW.

Police said Alexander Istomin, 50, was pulled over on the afternoon of April 10, after cops spotted him making an illegal left turn and driving recklessly near his office on Justice Avenue.

Istomin initially refused to give officers his name, but later relented and identified himself, police said. Istomin was arrested after the cops ran his information and learned he was driving with a suspended license, police said.

Police did an inventory check of the BMW prior to impounding it and found the gun, a gravity knife and 100-rounds of ammunition, a law enforcement source said.

Istomin was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon and aggressive, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Istomin was also charged with criminal contempt for violating a prior order of protection that prohibited him from carrying a weapon, the source said.
