Queens Man Charged Ins Machete Attacks

By Liz Goff
Police arrested a 20-year-old Queens man on March 20, just hours after he slashed three men with a machete outside a Corona restaurant.

Cops said Guillermo Torres became enraged when one of the victims approached his girlfriend inside the Cibao Restaurant on Northern Boulevard near 104th Street at about 3 a.m. on March 20.

Guillermo confronted the three men, then left the restaurant in a jealous rage a short while later, police said. He left the restaurant, but came back with the machete and waited for the victims outside, police said.

When the men left the restaurant at about 4:50 a.m., Torres started haking away at the victims, slashing a 19-year-old on the shoulder and fracturing his wrist, police said. Torres then turned his anger on a 32-year-old man, slashing him in the head and back. Torres then sliced a 23-year-old in the head and hand before fleeing the scene, police said.

Each of the victims was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital of Queens in stable condition.

Torres was charged with multiple counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.
