T-Bone Diner

For a remarkable 82 years, the landmark T-Bone Diner has been serving its faithful clientele delicious, home style meals made with quality ingredients and lots of heart. Conveniently located on Queens Blvd., next to the Midway movie theatre, the T-Bone Diner has been frequented by many celebrities, politicians and thousands of Queens residents over the years. Brothers George and Peter Plevrites run a tight ship and keep it sailing 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

On a recent visit, I finally did it…I had a T-bone steak at the T-Bone Diner and boy was it good! Topped with two enormous, crunchy onion rings and grilled mushroom caps, this steak was juicy with nice texture and flavor. You’ll also find tender London broil and juicy pork chops along with their famous nightly specials. My dining companion had the evening’s tilapia special and raved about it. The broiled tilapia filet was flaky and tender and mildly seasoned, served with soup or salad, your choice of potato and vegetable for just $14.95. It was beautifully presented, garnished with sliced lemons and oranges for a festive touch. A nearby diner tucked into his stuffed cabbage special which looked great.

Begin your meal with a cocktail, glass of wine or beer and enjoy the homemade mini biscuits and challah bread while you consider the menu. Start with a crunchy Greek salad or some savory baked clams, Buffalo chicken wings, or chicken fingers that the kids love. Besides the tempting nightly specials, the regular menu has everything you could want from fancy seafood dishes, pasta, and sautee specials. Classic meatloaf and mashed potatoes is real comfort food, as is oven-roasted turkey dinner with all the trimmings, or a half roasted chicken. Sauteed specials like fork-tender veal or chicken are prepared marsala or piccata style. On the weekends you’ll find roast leg of lamb or roast loin of pork served with all the sides.

The T-Bone Diner proudly serves fresh fish and seafood such as broiled Boston scrod, flounder filet stuffed with crabmeat, red snapper or swordfish, depending on the day’s catch. Broiled salmon steak with lemon butter sauce is another delectable option. Don’t forget the lobster tails or shrimp, served any way you’d like. Shrimp scampi over pasta or the seafood Alfredo sauce are just some of the pasta choices.

Start your day with breakfast at the T-Bone, served all day. Order an egg sandwich to go, Western omelet, a stack of flap jacks, or French toast made with thick cut challah and get on your way. The coffee is great and the service is fast and friendly. Stop in at lunch time for great wrap sandwiches and hot pressed paninis filled with roast beef and caramelized onions, Mexican grilled chicken with jalapeño jack cheese or grilled vegetables and feta cheese. The turkey club sandwich and BLT are great and the T-Bone burgers are legendary made with low-fat buffalo meat, turkey burgers, or veggie burgers with all your favorite toppings.

It’s hard to miss the glass case boasting their homemade desserts that include creamy NY style cheese cake, chocolate mousse cake, carrot cake, chocolate pudding and mile-high lemon meringue pie.

There’s always a great time to visit the T-Bone Diner and enjoy a delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere. Come before or after the movies or any night after work, since the E and F train stops right in front of this historic restaurant. They’re open 24/7 for your convenience and the prices are so good, it’s cheaper to eat here than to cook at home. Welcome Spring at the T-Bone Diner and bring a hearty appetite!
