Astoria To Get Playground For Adults Under Triborough

Astoria will be getting a playground for adults complete with ping-pong tables and volleyball courts to be located on an undeveloped lot underneath the Triborough (RFK) Bridge, according to DNAinfo.com. The new park, to be called “Triborough Bridge Playground A” will be located at Hoyt Avenue North, between 21st Street and Astoria Park.

It is expected to open in the spring of 2017 following a $825,000 design. It will also have exercise equipment. New pavement, a drain system, fences and benches will also be installed as part of the revamp, a spokeswoman told DNAinfo.

The park, which has been in planning since 2013 is one of two major overhauls planned for the series of park spaces under the bridge.
