Napoli Pizza and Pasta

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie it’s….Napoli Pizza and Pasta. You’ll be moonstruck by the delicious pizza, pasta and entrees at Napoli, all served in a “homey” environment, surrounded by friends, family, and a big serving of Neapolitan charm.

Owner Antonio Petito uses his family’s recipes to make very generous portions of delicious pasta, chicken, meat, fresh fish and seafood, and their famous pizza. Rosaria, with her friendly smile, works the dining room which looks like nonna’s kitchen, complete with murals and maps of southern Italy.

Enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer and some of their irresistible garlic bread fresh from the oven, while Rosaria recites the nightly specials. Seafood pasta was just the ticket: fresh clams, calamari, shrimp and mussels in a heavenly garlic and oil sauce over a mound of spaghetti sounded so good, we ordered it.

Every meal at Napoli should start with a slice of their tender, crispy crust pizza with your favorite toppings. Many even choose to have pizza for dinner, served piping hot, along with a crunchy Caesar salad, tossed salad, or antipasto salad with cuts of cured meats, cheeses and vegetables. The homemade sauce and hand rolled dough gives Napoli’s pizza its excellent flavor and texture. The Casalinga pizza with fresh eggplant, mozzarella and tomato is very popular, and we shared some pizza bianca topped with ricotta and mozzarella. Orders for pizza to go come in like crazy and are delivered fast and free.

Everyone loves to share an order of tender, crispy calamari rings with tangy marinara sauce, fried zucchini sticks, bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, or mozzarella sticks while you wait for your main course.

Besides the delicious, traditional Italian food served at Napoli Pizza and Pasta, the next best thing is the price you’ll pay. The menu offers about a dozen pasta dishes to choose among, priced from $6.00 to $8.95 for a huge portion. Whether you opt for traditional spaghetti pomodoro with their fabulous tomato sauce or creamy, smokey carbonara sauce, your dish will be made to order with your choice of pasta such as linguine, spaghetti, bow ties, ziti or rigatoni. Pasta alla Napoli is their specialty with plum tomatoes, chunks of tender chicken breast, mushrooms, basil, garlic, white wine, garlic and parsley. Spaghetti with broccoli or with spicy Puttanesca sauce hits the spot, while rich, meaty Bolognese sauce is perfect over rigatoni with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Linguine or spaghetti with red or white clam sauce, made with juicy clams is another popular dish. Apparently the NYPD loves pasta ‘al forno’ such as baked manicotti and stuffed shells filled with fluffy ricotta, and meaty lasagna with lots of melted mozzarella. You can almost always find some of New York’s finest here ordering a meal to go.

Napoli serves fresh fish and seafood everyday including shrimp scampi over pasta made with plump, tasty shrimp and savory, garlicky scampi sauce. My filet of sole francese was fork-tender, flaky and delicious in a delicate lemon butter sauce. Chicken francese is a classic dish, or try tender chicken marsala or chicken Milanese with a crispy golden breading. Chicken, shrimp or eggplant parmigiana can be ordered as an entrée or piled onto a hero sandwich, to stay or to go.

For dessert, there’s homemade Italian cheese cake, crunchy, freshly-filled cannolis or tartufo ice cream. Ask if they have their zeppoles dusted in powdered sugar when you go. Order an espresso to complete your Neapolitan dining experience and I strongly suggest walking home!

Napoli does a brisk catering business with party trays for all your occasions. Order half or full trays of their home style Italian dishes now for your upcoming graduation, communion or confirmation party. Throw a pizza and calzone party for the kids or for your next stay-at-home night. Napoli Pizza and Pasta is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner with fast, free delivery.
