Sign Up To Shovel Snow

Officials at the Department of Sanitation (DOS) are searching for a few good men – and women who are interested in shoveling show from city streets.

DOS officials said the jobs include shoveling bus shelters, bus stops, crosswalks, steps at municipal buildings and transit sites, at fire hydrants and public school sites.

The jobs pay $13.50 per hour for the first 40 hours and $20.25 per hour for each additional hour, DOS officials said.

Queens residents interested in signing up to shovel sow may do so at any local garage between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Applicants must be 18 years or older, eligible to work in the United States and able to perform heavy physical labor.

Applicants must bring two, 1½ inch square photos, two documented proofs of identity and employment eligibility such as a driver’s license, federal, state or city identification, school photo ID or passport to register.
