NYPD Issues Warning On ‘Flat Tire’ Bandits

Queens police officials last week issued a warning to motorists to remain alert to a team of brazen thieves who have ripped off dozens of unsuspecting drivers through a series of “flat tire” scams.

In each incident, one of the suspects distracted the victim by telling them one of their tires was flat, police said.

When the victim goes to inspect the flat tire, the other suspects remove cash and property from inside the vehicle, police said. The suspects flee before the victim realizes he/she has been robbed.

Police are urging anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers HOTLINE at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
