Probe Ongoing In Whitestone Teen-Slash

Police are seeking help from the pubic to help identify and locate the heartless suspect who brutally slashed the face and neck of a 16-year-old exchange student, in broad daylight, on a residential street in Whitestone.

Cops said the man was dressed in a light blue hooded jacket with white stripes down the sleeves, black pants and black sneakers when he attacked the girl at about 8:35 a.m. on December 16.. He had the hood pulled over his head and was wearing a surgical mask and surgical gloves as he jogged toward the girl, police said.

The girl, who was walking to classes at the nearby Whitestone Academy, was suddenly accosted by the man who slashed the right side of her face, from her ear to her throat, and then slashed her neck before he turned and ran away from the scene.

“He came out of nowhere while she was walking to school with a book bag,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said. “It’s very disturbing.”

The girl arrived in Queens from China in August and has been staying with relatives who live just blocks from the scene of the attack. Stunned and bloodied, the teen stumbled back home after the attack and told her aunt what happened, law enforcement sources said.

The aunt called 911 and the girl was rushed to Cohen Children’s Hospital, where she underwent three surgeries that required more than 300 stitches to close the gashes on her neck and face, a law enforcement source said.

Police are searching for the mask and surgical gloves worn by the suspect, and are canvassing local hardware stores, pharmacies and other retail outlets where the suspect ay have purchased the items.

Anyone with information on the suspect, believed to be in his 20s, is urged to call the CrimeStoppers HOTLINE at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

The HOTLINE is offering a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
