Hunt Broadway Ice Pick Thief

By Liz Goff

Police in Astoria are searching for a dangerous thief who threatened a security guard with an ice pick when he was caught leaving a Rite Aid Pharmacy with stolen electronics on October 28.

Cops said the suspect hid two Craig bluetooth speakers and a Craig headset off a shelf at a Rite Aid Pharmacy on Broadway and 47th Street at about 5:10 a.m. on October 28 and made a “beeline” to the door.

When confronted by a store security guard, the thief pulled an ice pick and threatened to “use it” on the guard, then ran from the store and made off on a bicycle parked on Broadway, a police source said.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 6-feet-tall and approximately 210 pounds. He was wearing a black leather jacket and a black knit hat at the time of the robbery.
