Corona Teen Thwarts Rapist

By Liz Goff

A 22-year-old Queens man is facing attempted rape charges after he tried to rape a a 15-year-old girl in the bedroom of her family’s Corona apartment, police and rosecutors said.

Prosecutors said the teen awoke at about 7 p.m. on November 27 to find Wilson Calle

Climbing into her bed. Calle put his hand over the teen’s mouth and threatened her shouting, “If you scream, I will kill you,” police sources said.

The girl tried to break free, telling Calle she had to use the bathroom, but he tossed her back on the bed and whispered, “I love you,” as he exposed himself, police sources said. But the teen managed to break free again and run from the building, police said.

Calle was captured on a security camera a short while later, buckling his belt as he ran from the building, police said.

Investigators later determined Calle had spotted the teen earlier that night, when he attended a party on another floor of the building.

Police tracked down Calle and arrested him later that night, law enforcement sources said. He was charged with attempted rape, assault, burglary and endangering the welfare of a child at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.
