CALDC To Light Up The Holidays At Astoria Park

Youngsters are invited to bring their parents to the Astoria Park Great Lawn on December 5, to share the magic of the season as CALDC President George L. Stamatiades and Executive Director Marie Torniali illuminate a 15-foot Douglas fir tree donated by the group in 2013. The tree, located inside the park on 19th Street and 23rd Avenue, will sparkle with a thousand lights that shine on the community throughout the holiday season.

CALDC has expanded this year’s tree lighting ceremony by turning Astoria Park into a winter playland that includes a holiday “bouncy” house for youngsters, oldfashioned marshmallow toasting, Christmas carols and all the traditional trimmings. The holiday festival will take place this Saturday, December 5, at 1 pm and culminate with the tree lighting ceremony at 4:30 pm, Stamatiades said.
