Photo Jason D. Antos The sounds of Let’s Go Mets! Amazin’! and Ya Gotta Believe! were in the air as hundreds of Mets fanatics gathered on the steps of Borough Hall in Kew Gardens for the World Series pep rally.

Hosted by Borough President Melinda Katz, the event featured special appearances by former Mets pitcher John Franco and infielder Edgardo Alfonzo, Miss New York 2015 Jamie Lynn Macchia and Mr. and Mrs. Met.

The first 500 attendees received free Mets T-shirts and the euphoric Mets fans were dressed in a sea of orange and blue as they cheered on their beloved team who is making their first World Series appearance since the historic 2000 Subway World Series against the Yankees.

“It’s a great time to be the Borough President of Queens,” said Queens Borough President Melinda Katz. “It’s all about the World Series coming back to the World’s Borough.”

John Franco made his official prediction. The Mets will win in six games.

“The only good thing to come out of Kansas City is their ribs,” Franco said.

Public Advocate Letitia James, City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer and Assemblyman Michael DenDekker were also on hand for the celebration.

The first two games of the 2015 World Series will be played in Kansas City on October 27 and 28.
