Festive Columbus Day Parade



Queens Borough President Melinda Katz (fourth from l.) applauds as Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, the Grand Marshal of the Howard Beach Columbus Day Parade, cut the ribbon to start the 10th anniversary edition of the parade on Cross Bay Boulevard on Sunday, September 27. The event was a festive celebration of Italian culture and heritage and of the contributions that Italian-Americans have made to our society. The parade’s Deputy Grand Marshals included NYPD Inspector John Corbisiero (second from l.) and Sanitation Department Deputy Commissioner Rocco DiRicco (third from r.). Among the participants at the ribbon-cutting were Assemblyman Phillip Goldfeder (fourth from l.), Community Board 6 District Manager Frank Gulluscio (sixth from r.), Community Board 10 Chairperson Betty Braton (fourth from r.) and Italian-American Businessman of the Year Salvatore J. Armao (third from l.). Representing the Howard Beach Columbus Day Foundation were President Mario Faulisi (fifth from l.), Vice President Grace Faulisi (second from r.), Secretary Annemarie Gurino (r.) and Treasurer Angelo Gurino (l.)
