Cops Hunt Minor Mugger

By Liz Goff
Police in Astoria are searching for a baby-faced thief wanted in connection with the robbery of two 14-year-old boys.

Cops said the child mugger accosted one of the teens on Eighth Street and Astoria Boulevard at about 6 p.m. on August 25, and threatened to harm the victim unless he handed over his iPod. The victim complied and the young thief fled in an unknown direction, police said.

The young mugger cornered the second teen on Vernon Boulevard and 34th Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. on August 27, where he threatened to harm the victim if he refused to turn over his iPod and jewelry, police said. The teen complied and the young thief ran from the scene.

Police last week released a surveillance photo of the suspect, described as a black or Hispanic male in his early teens, with short black hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt at the time of both robberies.
