Photos John McCarten City Council Member Donovan Richards speaks at a press conference to announce major renovation project at Far Rockaway Library. $29.75 million project will be the third library built on the same site at Central Avenue and Mott Avenue. The library will be re-located to temporary quarters on Cornaga Avenue and Beach 20th Street during construction. Public service is estimated to begin late in 2019. Queens Library Interim President and CEO Bridget Quinn-Carey said, “The Far Rockaway community depends on their public library for so many things: technology access, job readiness services, small business resources, educational materials and programs for all ages. They have long outgrown the current facility.
