Man Wanted In 34th Avenue Deli Burglary

Police are searching for a brazen thief who swiped cash and cigarettes during a break-in at an Astoria grocery store on August 16.

Cops said the suspect was captured on surveillance footage slipping under a roll-down metal gate and through the front door of the Kraveit Food Store at 34-02 30th Street at about 5:50 a.m. on August 16. The store was closed at the time of the burglary, police said.

The suspect grabbed about $250 from a cash register and nine packs of Marlboro and Newport cigarettes from a display behind a counter inside the store, then fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves, pants, a hat and sneakers. He was carrying a dark-colored backpack at the time of the burglary, police said.

The HOTLINE is offering a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
