Man Busted In Steinway Street Wife-Beat

Police arrested a 35-year-old Astoria man on August 25, after he assaulted his wife at her Steinway Street residence.

More than a dozen officers were called to the apartment on an upper floor at 30-17 Steinway Street at about 9:15 a.m. on August 25, after neighbors heard the woman screaming and called 011 for help, police said.

Police who responded to the site called for backup after the arrived at the apartment where David Greenwold was “ranting and acting crazed” following his attack on the victim, police sources said.

Law enforcement sources said the large umber of officers responded to the domestic incident to assist in a “non-confrontational” arrest with the raging suspect.

Greenwold was charged with assault and other related charges at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.

He could face up to four years in prison, if convicted.
