Bricks Rain Down On Austin Street After Rooftop Crash

Photo Tony BarsamianPhoto Tony BarsamianPedestrians walking along Austin Street ran for cover when a load of bricks came crashing to the ground after a car crashed into the retaining wall of a rooftop parking lot, punching a hole in it. The incident occurred just after 8 pm on August 30, when a valet accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes, sending the car into the wall above a two-story commercial building at 70-20 Austin St. housing several businesses, including Exo Café and Lucille Roberts. No one was injured in the crash or by the falling bricks. Last year, Exo Café also sustained significant damage when it was blasted by a wave of snow, ice and debris sent through the storefront by a city plow.
