Photo Dominick Totino Photography Vallo Transportation, an independent school bus transportation company located in Queens, recently sponsored their fourth annual Summer Read Aloud and Crafts Program at Whitestone Community Library of Queens Library. Dozens of neighborhood preschoolers and their parents attended this free special event that included a storytime reading of “Wheels on the Bus,” a school bus-themed arts & crafts activity and refreshments. As part of this sponsorship, Vallo awarded a grant to the Queens Library Foundation to underwrite the purchase of a collection of new children’s books for the branch.

“We’ve developed a strong partnership with Queens Library over the years by sponsoring this program and some others, and we’re delighted to bring literacy programs to local residents that emphasize the importance of encouraging young readers. Our donation of new children’s books to the library helps to ensure that young readers will continue to have much-needed resources to keep them engaged, entertained and flourishing,” stated Linda DeSabato, President, Vallo Transportation.

“Queens Library joins the children of Whitestone in thanking Vallo Transportation for their continued support. This is the fourth year that Vallo and the DeSabato family have helped make summer reading at Queens Library extra-special with educational, fun programs. Our young readers are lucky to have such great friends,” said Bridget Quinn-Carey, Interim President and CEO, Queens Library.

“Vallo has a partnership with several schools to provide private bus service, so we work with children on a daily basis. This elevates our commitment to schools and education to a new level and enables us to be an influencer. On behalf of everyone at Vallo, we’re proud to be partners with the Library for this special community program,” added Linda DeSabato.
