Forest Hills To Loose Barnes & Noble In Early 2016

The story on the Austin Street Barnes & Noble is over.

After 20 years, the Forest Hills location will become a Target by mid-2016. The new Target will be what is known as a compact-sized location, a new concept that will be tested here in Queens.

Target signed a deal for a 15-year, 20,795-square-foot lease.

Barnes & Noble, which had operated at the location since 1995, opted not to exercise an extension option on its lease, which expires at the end of January.

The last remaining Queens location, in Bay Terrace, may also be in trouble but sources sayd that the landlord for that location, Cord Meyer, declined to comment on negotiations.
