National Night Out



In an effort to promote greater harmony between police officers and the community they serve, the 114th Precinct held its annual Night Out Against Crime event in Astoria Park on August 4. Additionally, the national event brought thousands of Queens residents out to locations across the borough for an evening of family activities. Present at this celebration filled with food, music and fun were officers of the 114th Pct., members of the auxiliary police and the 114th Civ-Op, as well as Mr. Met. Also present were Community Council President Ann Bruno, CB 1 District Manager Florence Koulouris, Ed Babor representing Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, 114th Commanding Officer Peter M. Fortune, Councilman Costa Constantinides, Assemblwoman Aravella Simotas and Federation of Italian American Organizations of Queens President Joe DiPietro. Councilman Paul A. Vallone attended National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 4 and visited the 109th and 111th Precincts at their respective celebrations. National Night Out Against Crime is held each year to rally Americans in the fight against crime, teach them about crime prevention techniques and also demonstrate support for police and other law enforcement agencies. The Councilman was proud to stand with fellow elected officials, the NYPD and the community at this event. “From the moment I entered office, meeting and collaborating with our law enforcement was a number one priority. We are working together to ensure families throughout northeast Queens are safer than ever. I thank Deputy Inspector Thomas Conforti, Captain William McBride and all of the hardworking officers of the 109th and 111th precincts for protecting us every day,” said Vallone.
