Man Wounded In Gunfire At Astoria Houses

A 45-year-old man remains in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital Center this week, after he was wounded by gunfire at a local housing project.

Police said the unidentified victim was walking near a building at the Astoria Housing Project on 27th Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. on August 15 when a gunman suddenly opened fire.

The man was struck in the leg by one round and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center for treatment, authorities said.

Police are searching for the gunman and are urging anyone with information to call the CrimeStoppers HOTLINE at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

The HOTLINE is offering a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
