Astoria Supermarket Wallet Swipe

Police are searching for a man who swiped a woman’s cell phone an wallet from a checkout counter at a Steinway Street supermarket.

Cops said the 21-year=ld victim was shopping at the Met Supermarket on Steinway Street near 34th Avenue at about 4 p.m. on June 29 when she placed her wallet and cell phone on a counter.

When the woman turned her back for a moment, the crook grabbed the items and fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, about 30-years-old, 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 190 pounds, with short, dark hair. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans at the time of the robbery.

The HOTLINE is offering a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
