Summer In Queens – A Bon Vivant’s Paradise

Now that summer is in full swing, we hope everyone is taking advantage of all that our famous and mighty borough has to offer. There is something for everyone, from signature events, such as the Mets games in Citi Field and the US Open at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, to the beaches and pools, street fairs, parks, libraries, theaters, museums, and free concerts, plays, films, dance and cultural performances, and countless other concert series in practically every neighborhood. There are free yoga, tennis, and golf classes in the parks, for those looking to get sunshine and improve their health in a fun way, not to mention free kayaking and canoeing, and hiking trails. Artmaking and building workshops abound for those who would like to learn new skills for a small fee at parks, library branches, even street fairs, and now Citi Bike has made its long-awaited debut to the borough.

Do not forget all the food venues with their constant experimentation, creating new taste sensations in food and libations in addition to international flavors, in transporting atmospheres all around town.

We have to say, Queens is practically exploding with things to do. The concept of a “staycation” really does not do it justice.

Be sure to peruse our weekly Community Calendar online and look for our Queens Scene for a heads-up on the latest forms of entertaining, mind-expanding, sense-delighting, loved-ones bonding, and skill-building activities within walking distance from your door, or a short hop on airconditioned mass transit. You can even make the ride the point by taking a tour on our new scenic ferries. Small wonder The World’s Borough is attracting people from far and wide to join in the festivities we gladly share with all visitors.
