Celebrity Jeweler Killed In Road-Rage Hit Run

By LIZ GOFF
Police are searching for a road-rage driver who struck and killed a famed celebrity jeweler on a Forest Hills street on July 20.

Cops said Aran “Eric” Aranbuyer, 40, got out of a vehicle near the intersection of 71st Avenue and 110th Street at about 11:15 p.m. on July 20, when the driver of a dark-colored Dodge Magnum flew past him. When Aranbuyer shouted at the driver to slow down, the man pulled over, got out of the Dodge and argued with Aranbuyer, law enforcement sources said. The driver was allegedly angry that he had to wait for Aranbuyer to get put of the car that had pulled over near the famed jeweler’s home, the sources said.

The driver stormed back into his car and backed up past Aranbuyer, then put the car in drive, floored the gas pedal and slammed into the father of three, law enforcement sources said.

Aranbuyer’s head struck the pavement and he was unconscious and unresponsive when an FDNY ambulance crew arrived at the scene. Aranbuyer was taken to Jamaica Hospital Center with massive head trauma. He died a day later in what has been classified a homicide, police said.

Aranbuyer who, with his family, operated Rafaello and Co. Jewelers on 47th Street in Manhattan, served an “A” List of customers that included members of the NY Knicks and other sports and entertainment celebrities.

Eyewitnesses said the driver of the Dodge Magnum fled the scene in an unknown direction immediately after he struck Ararbuyer.
