Couple Charged, Left Toddler Alone With Fireworks

A Middle Village couple found themselves behind bars on July 5 after they left a 3-year-old boy alone with more than $2,000 worth of illegal fireworks, law enforcement sources said.

Cops said Jason Rodriguez, 28, and Tina Foley, 29, were charged with unlawful sale of fireworks and behaving in a manner injurious to a child after they left the boy unattended with the illegal explosives.

Police did not define the couple’s relationship with the child.

“This could have been a very deadly situation,” law enforcement sources said. “This child could have digested some of the brightly-colored fireworks, or accidentally managed to ignite them, resulting in a potentially deadly outcome,” the sources said. Rodriguez and Foley could face severe penalties, including jail time, if convicted, law enforcement sources said.
