Woodside Woman Foils Violent Rape Attempt

BY LIZ GOFF
Police in Woodside are searching for a violent sexual predator who stalked and attempted to rape a local woman on June 25.

Cops said the suspect stalked the woman until she arrived at her Woodside apartment building at about 9:15 a.m. on June 25. The man followed her up to her floor and tried to pull down her underwear as she unlocked her front door, police said.

The determined woman refused to give in and fought back against the suspect. She ran into her apartment and locked the door before he was able to push his way in, police said.

The foiled rapist became angered, pounding and pushing on the door to try to force it open. Cops said the suspect gave up and fled the scene when he realized the door wouldn’t budge.

The woman, though terrified, was not injured in the attack.

Police last week released a surveillance photo of the suspect (see photo) described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, 5-fee, 9-inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored shirt and dark colored jeans at the tie of the foiled attack.
