Cops Hunt Suspect In Forest Park Homicide

By Liz Goff

Police have identified a suspect in the murder of a 23-year-old man whose body was discovered in Forest Park.
Zoltan Forai, 44, is wanted for questioning in the bludgeoning death of Diego Piedrahita, whose body was discovered by passersby, face down inside Forest Park at about 3:30 pm on June 10, in a wooded area.
Police who responded to the scene found Piedrahita unconscious and unresponsive, with severe head trauma, authorities said. Paramedics pronounced Piedrahita dead at the scene.
Police sources said investigators found a trail of blood leading to the body, suggesting the victim may have tried to flee his attacker(s). Police recovered a tree branch with blood on it near the body, the sources said.
The city Medical Examiner’s Office determined late last week that Piedrahita’s death was a homicide, setting off the NYPD investigation.
Sources said Forai, who also goes by the name Stephen Forai, knew the victim, but the nature of their relationship is unclear.
Forai is described as a white male, 5-feet, 7-inches tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, a moustache and a beard.
Police said Forai frequents the bandshell area of Forest Park, as well as Victory Field. His last known address is listed as Ridgewood.
Piedrahita lived with his family in Flushing, police sources said. Investigators are trying to determine why he was in Forest Park at the time of the murder.
