Venerate Old Glory

Flag Day is a holiday which often gets overlooked, probably due to the fact that it is not a day off. That does not mean it is unimportant.

A number of our readers have written in to lament the fact, and rightly so, that we are not paying due respect to Old Glory. On June 14, 1777, the first Flag Act was passed by the Continental Congress, back when we only needed 13 stars to represent the original colonies, as the fight for independence was in full swing.

We must remind ourselves of all the ideals for which it stands: “one nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all,” to which we pledge our allegiance. We are fiercely loyal to our country and strive to perfect ways of stengthening our ideals of unity, freedom and fairness for all.

Flag Day falls on June 14 every year, and this year it will be on Sunday. There are still events celebrating the occasion in most neighborhoods. Please do participate, and see that the next generation joins in and gains an understanding of the importance of the flag as well. Honor the flag and honor the principles that make the USA the greatest country on Earth.
