The parade procession started at noon at Whitestone Memorial Park, at the corner of 149th Street and 15th Drive.

The Whitestone Veterans Memorial Association, helps organize the parade and is a conglomerate of three veteran posts: the American Legion Post 131, the Jewish War Veterans Post 415 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4787.

The choral group of PS 193 sang the National Anthem and rendered “America the Beautiful,” after the firing of the volley, playing of “Taps,” raising the colors and laying of wreaths by the Girl Scouts.

Marching in the parade were members of the NYPD Pipes and Drums, FDNY and NYPD officers, members of the Whitestone Volunteer Ambulance and Dwarf Giraffe Little League. The parade also featured veterans and rows of classic cars from the 1930s through the 1970s.

Devon O’Connor, founder of the Welcome to Whitestone civic group was once again this year’s parade Chair.
