Steinway Street Holds Annual Sale Days

Photos Melissa Mennona The annual and very popular Steinway Street Sale Days were held on the weekend of May 15-17 in Astoria. Sponsored by the Queens Gazette, the event featured sales from popular stores along the business drag, as well as an appearance by Bobo the Hobo who delighted young and old alike with tricks.

The following young artists from various schools also came to display their works in a student art show on Saturday: Tina Gioia and Maria Shinas from Frank Sinatra H.S.; Tiffany Harper Bedell, Kar Chuan Tan and Gabriela Padewska from Queens College; and Georgia Bolas, Vasilis Georgiades, Leonidas Dandakis, Christina Kasimis, Irene Panikidis and Panagiota Chasan from St. Demetrios H.S.

Lincoln Hallmark also participated in what will be their final appearance at the annual street fair. Located at 30-16 Steinway Street, owner Marc Schein said the shop will be closing at the end of June, after being in operation for 32 years.
