DOT Announces Nicole Garcia As Boro Commissioner

The city Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Polly Trottenberg announced on May 8 the appointment of Nicole Garcia to the position of Queens Borough Commissioner. Garcia has served in DOT since 2008, first as a Deputy Press Secretary and later as Deputy Queens Borough Commissioner.

“NYC DOT is very excited to appoint Nicole Garcia as our new Queens Borough Commissioner. Nicole’s experience in Queens over the years, deep knowledge of the agency and outstanding communications skills will prove invaluable to her leadership in Queens,” said Trottenberg.

Garcia, a Queens resident, served as Queens Deputy Borough Commissioner since 2013. She previously served as DOT’s Deputy Press Secretary where she learned the operational aspects of the agency and was able to successfully articulate DOT’s position on transportation policy, many safety projects and a number of planning initiatives.

Garcia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Northwestern University and a Master of Science in Strategic Communications from Columbia University.
