Cops Hunt 36th Avenue Armed Bandit

Police at the 114th Precinct are searching for a brazen armed bandit who flashed a gun during a daylight robbery at a Long Island City cell phone store.

Cops said the gunman entered the T-Mobile store at 31-05 36th Ave. at about noon on April 13, where he waved the weapon at terrified workers and demanded merchandise and cash.

The gunman forced a worker to put several boxes of cell phones into a duffel bag he was carrying, then grabbed $200 from a store register and fled in a waiting black Audi sedan, police said.

Police described him as a Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, with black hair and a medium build. He was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577- TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.–Liz Goff
