Wanted In HANAC Break-In

Police in Astoria are searching for two brazen bandits who burglarized a Greek American community center during a four-day period in March.

Cops said the duo broke into the Hellenic Neighborhood Action Committee (HANAC) Community Center on 30th Avenue in Astoria three times between 6 p.m. on March 6 and 8 a.m. on March 10.

The thieves pried open a rear window and climbed inside the center in at least one of the burglaries, police said.

They were captured on surveillance video wearing surgical gloves and roaming through the center planning their heist, police said.

The pair swiped numerous items, including three iPads, a Sony camera, and assorted tools, as well as gift cards with an undisclosed value.

The suspects are described as an African American male in his 20s and a light-skinned male, also in his 20s.

Police last week released a surveillance photo of one of the suspects and are urging anyone with information to call Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
