Con Edison Contractors Are At Home With Energy Efficiency

Twenty contractors have received Con Edison awards for helping residential customers make energy-efficient heating and cooling upgrades to save money and make their homes more comfortable.

The honorees were chosen for their work during 2014, a year in which Con Edison residential customers made upgrades that will keep more than 7,700 tons of carbon out of the air. That’s the equivalent of taking more than 1,200 cars off the road.

The honorees included the six HVAC contractors who completed the most electrical projects and six that completed the most gas-saving projects while helping customers get rebates. The remaining eight were the best performers among contractors that began in the program in 2014.

The contractors contributed to the success of Con Edison’s Heating and Cooling Rebates program. That program awards rebates of up to $1,000 per measure to customers who replace heating and cooling systems with eligible energy-efficient equipment.

“These contractors led the way when it came to helping our residential customers get paid for projects that will lower their energy use and bills and that’s what our programs are all about,” said Rebecca Craft, director of Energy Efficiency and Demand Management, Con Edison. “There is still time for customers to contact us about their energy-saving projects and benefit from our incentives.”

More than 22,000 Con Edison customers received rebates totaling $6.7 million from the residential energy efficiency program in 2014.
