Ferreras Takes Paws To Help Pet Rescuers

BY LIZ GOFF

A Queens lawmaker this week introduced a resolution that would give a $100 state tax break to New Yrokers who open their hearts to homeless and rescued animals.

City Councilmember Julissa Ferreras submitted the resolution to state lawmakers who failed to take action on a similar tax break introduced to the state legislature in 2014.

“Encouraging New Yorkers with a tax reedit to adopt pets is not only compassionate, but would bring relief to our overburdened animal shelters and to animal lovers who want to adopt but cannot afford the initial costs,” Ferreras said.
