Las Margaritas

Las Margaritas’ Happy Hour is legendary, running from 4pm to 7pm Monday to

Friday with $4.50 margaritas and $3.50 beers, including imported Negro Modelo. On Saturday and Sunday, Happy Hour takes place from 6pm to 11pm. Our lovely waitress Lauren told us that the classic margarita, frozen margarita, passion fruit and coconut margaritas are the most popular. We also tried a freshly muddled mojito, which was perfectly mixed, and of course, the beers are frosty cold. Plan your next private party at Las Margaritas. While you’re enjoying the Happy Hour, or anytime, you should order some of Las Margaritas’ fantastic aperitivos. These tantalizing appetizers include the house made guacamole, served fresh, chunky and vibrant with color and flavor, served with house made tortilla chips. Quesadillas come warm from the grill, filled with zesty cheese, chicken, beef or vegetables, with a dollop of sour cream and guacamole ($7.95 and up). If you like it hot, ask for a side of the hot sauce that offers a kick. Nachos are great for sharing, at the bar, or tableside, layered with cheese, chicken, or beef. For a more sophisticated starter, the ceviche mixto is a classic dish of limemarinated shrimp and tilapia fish, tossed with chopped red onion, tomato, avocado, jalapeño, and lots of freshly chopped cilantro ($9.95). Crispy fried calamari and spicy Buffalo chicken wings keep everyone happy as they munch, crunch, and sip, or warm up with a bowl of black bean soup, tortilla soup, or seafood soup made fresh daily.

Entrées include all your Mexican favorites from tacos to carne asada and everything is made fresh on the spot from quality ingredients. Sizzling fajitas are ideal for sharing, served in a cast iron pan with a stack of warm tortillas on the side. Simply fill one with your choice of juicy steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon or vegetables sautéed with fresh peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and onions, or order vegetable fajitas. You can even create a combination fajita platter with your choice of three different fillings and all fajitas are served with flour tortillas, pico de gallo, sour cream and a side of their delicious rice and beans. Enchiladas are rolled corn tortillas filled with beef and traditional molé sauce, which is made with unsweetened coco, raisins, and sesame seeds, or try the enchiladas Suizas with shredded beef, chicken, or cheese and tasty green tomatillo sauce ($12.95).

Las Margaritas grills up juicy steaks and pork chops, such as the carne asada a la Mexicana where a hefty shell steak is sautéed with onions, tomatoes, and peppers served with a side order of seasoned rice and refried beans ($15.95). Entraña is skirt steak that’s been marinated and grilled to perfection with garlicky chimichurri sauce made of finely chopped parsley, garlic, olive oil and vinegar. Mar y Tierra is Spanish for ‘surf and turf’ where the chef prepares a grilled sirloin steak along with plump, juicy, grilled shrimp, served with mashed potatoes for those craving a more ‘American’ meal. Thick cut pork chops are grilled and topped with mushrooms and a tasty tequila sauce, or served picante with a bit of spice rubbed into the lean pork, topped with avocado and mango chunks ($15.95).

For a light seafood meal, try pan-seared tilapia in garlic wine sauce or grilled salmon fillet with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Spicy seafood casserole is prepared with lobster tail, clams, mussels, and calamari in Chipotle tomato sauce for a Mexican favorite.

Tacos are my go-to snack/meal anytime, any day, and Las Margaritas’ tacos are the real deal, made on soft flour tortillas filled with shredded beef, chicken, chorizo, or pork called carnitas, served with guacamole and pico de gallo.

Sweeten your palate at the end of this feast with cool and creamy custard called flan, tres leches cake made with three types of milk, and the decadent fried ice cream. Pair it up with a Kahlua liqueur and a cup of coffee for the perfect end to this delicious meal.

Las Margaritas is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and a fabulous Happy Hour every night.
