Help ID Astoria Hit-Run Driver

By Liz Goff

Police in Astoria are searching for a hit-run driver who mowed down a 21-year-old Astoria man on May 19.

Police officials last week released a surveillance photo and surveillance footage of the hit-run that shows a white sedan speeding westbound on 30th Avenue at about 4:05 .m. on May 19. The graphic footage then shows the out-of-control vehicle mounting a curb at 45th Street and 30th Avenue, where it plowed into the victim.

The footage also shows the driver fleeing the scene in an unknown direction immediately after the incident, police said.

The victim suffered a broken femur, di9slocated shoulder and a concussion, fire officials said. He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.
