Jamaica Honor Students Unveil Historic Plaque

On December 10, State Senator Joe Addabbo joined the Aquinas Honor Society members, their teacher, Carl Ballenas and school administrators--at a ceremony held at Immaculate Conception School in Jamaica Estates for the unveiling of a bronze plaque that will soon be installed by federal officials on the Addabbo-Social Security federal building in Jamaica. The plaque marks the location of a famed colonial era inn at Parsons Boulevard and Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica, mentioned in the diary of President George Washington when he stayed overnight in 1790 while on a post-Revolutionary War tour of Long Island. Along with Addabbo was Councilmember-elect Rory Lancman.
