The late Anthony “AJ” Perrelli. The late Anthony “AJ” Perrelli.Anthony “AJ” Perrelli, an Astoria native and substitute member of the Village People, has died.

He currently performed with the famous disco group in half a dozen shows in the New York City and filled in as the Cowboy at Resorts World Casino Ozone Park. He also subbed in the role of the Biker and the Construction Worker.

An experienced dancer and actor, Perrelli will be interened at Calvary Cemetery, after he passed away last week after being in a coma. In July of this year, the Gazette interviewed Perrelli (http://www.qgazette.com/news/2013-07-24/Features/Astoria_Native_Hopes_To_Follow_In_The_Steps_Of_Oth.html) who discussed his career and the events in his life that led him to becoming an artist.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, an account for AJ has been set up in Chris Bartley Perrelli‘s name to help pay for his burial and related expenses at Chase Bank. Any remaining money will be allocated to establish a future scholarship fund for the arts in memory of Perrelli. Donations can be made at http://ajperrelli.com/donate
