Prentzas Announces Bid For City Council 22nd District
Constantinos “Gus” Prentzas, longtime Community Board member and small business owner, has filed paperwork and begun circulating petitions to get on the September Democratic Primary ballot for the City Council 22nd District.
“I have been proud to serve the community for more than a decade in many different capacities – both elected and unelected. With the seat being vacated by Councilman Peter Vallone, who is seeking the office of borough president, many in the community have been urging me to run to replace him to continue the progress of our community and build on his successful record,” stated Prentzas.
Prentzas stated he believes he can bring the type of leadership that Astoria and its surrounding area needs. He cited his years of public service on local community and school boards as well as the fact that he’s a small business owner and local employer.
Prentzas continued, “Northwestern Queens has grown and flourished over the last 12 years. I believe I have the right balance of private and public sector experience to continue that progress and look forward to engaging and serving the community in the city council.”
Prentzas plans to make an official announcement in the near future, but stated that the first step for him to become a candidate is to collect enough signatures from local residents to get on the ballot for the September Primary.
