Moya Celebrates Earth Day
Assemblymember Francisco Moya held an Earth Day Celebration Saturday, April 20th at the NSA Supermarket. Sponsored by NSA and Health Plus Amerigroup, the event featured numerous environmental educators and exhibitors, shredders for community use, free food and activities for the whole family.
"I am thrilled to see the community come together today to celebrate what it means to be green," said Assemblyman Moya. "I hope this event will provide Queens residents with information they need to act sustainably in their everyday lives. Together, we can make Queens the standard for green urban living."
Giancarlo Castano gives tutorial in composting
Corona residents enjoyed tutorials in composting, reuse and applying for loans for energy efficiency home improvement projects. They were able to bring their paper waste to the on-site shredding truck.
Sen. Jose Peralta also attended the celebration and threw his support behind Assemblyman Moya's efforts to raise environmental awareness in the community.
"I hope to see everyone doing their part this Earth Day, and every day, to create a cleaner, more sustainable New York," said State Senator Jose Peralta, who will be in attendance on Saturday. "By working together to 'Go Green,' we can protect our neighborhoods and communities, and create countless jobs and economic development opportunities in green technology."
