Meng To Celebrate First 100 Days In Congress

This Sunday, April 14, freshman Congressmember Grace Meng (D-Queens) will hold an inaugural celebration to commemorate her first 100 days in Congress.

The event is scheduled to take place at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Francis Lewis H.S., 58- 20 Utopia Parkway in Fresh Meadows.

Constituents are encouraged to attend but must RSVP to Meng’s office at inaugural.meng@mail.house.gov or 718-423- 2154.

Community and civic leaders, constituents and other elected officials are expected to attend.

The Francis Lewis H.S. Choir and others are scheduled to perform, and cadets from the school’s famed U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) are set to be part of the ceremony as well.

“It’s hard to believe that it will soon be 100 days since I took the oath of office,” said Meng. “But since being sworn in, I’ve hit the ground running, working non-stop for the people I’m privileged to represent. I look forward to talking about all I’ve been doing during my first 100 days when I celebrate this momentous occasion with my constituents, community leaders, guests and colleagues on April 14.”

Meng was sworn in as a new member of Congress this past January and made history by becoming the first Asian American member of Congress from New York. She is also the first female member of Congress from Queens since former vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro.
