Maloney Statement On U.S. Postal Service's Announcement On Saturday Mail Service

Congressmember Carolyn Maloney issued the following statement on the announcement by the United States Postal Service that it is abandoning a proposal to eliminate mail delivery on Saturdays:

“I’m pleased that the Postal Service will not be cancelling Saturday mail delivery. Many New Yorkers, especially seniors who receive their medications through the mail and small businesses, rely on six-day service. There is no doubt that the Postal Service is facing enormous budget challenges and Congress needs to address them. That is why I support a comprehensive plan that addresses the overpayments the Postal Service is forced to make to its retirement and health programs, which are the real drivers behind the Postal Service’s budget gap.”
