State Senator Addabbo Jr. getting a campaign endorsement from former Mayor Ed Koch last fall during their meeting in Koch’s Manhattan office. Upon the death of former Mayor Edward I. Koch, state Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. (D-Middle Village) released the following statement on February 4:
“With the passing of Ed Koch, our city lost an icon. Ed dedicated most of his life to public service and helping others.
“In the 1970s and 1980s, I met Ed many times through his friendship and working relationship with my father.  Later, I had the great opportunity of working with Ed on government reform and had the honor of having his endorsement for my campaigns.
“A symbol of good government and hard work, throughout the years, Ed kept his focus on the people’s interest and needs. If I were to slightly alter Ed’s catchphrase of “How’m I doing?” to “How did I do?”—I would answer, “You did great, Ed, rest in peace.”
