Santa Fe Steakhouse

It’s really refreshing and heartwarming to visit a successful restaurant that’s so committed to offering high quality, delicious food at reasonable prices to the neighborhood it serves. Such is the case at Santa Fe Steakhouse on 70th Road in Forest Hills. Even in these uncertain economic times, Santa Fe Steakhouse maintains and serves a steady clientele in its spacious dining room seven days a week. Santa Fe Steakhouse is personally run by the amiable owner, Danny, who has been there since its inception in 1994. Both Danny and the restaurant are valued members of the community and they’re happy to be there for all to enjoy a great meal out.

As you enter the southwestern-motif restaurant, you’ll see a refrigerated case with their choice, aged steaks, just waiting for the grill. The ribs, burgers, chicken, fish and other dishes are all served in generous portions at economical prices, so the whole family can enjoy a meal together. Indeed, Santa Fe welcomes families, has a children’s menu, and hosts a mature, sedate crowd so it’s never loud or rowdy, even on weekends.

I come here often for the great food and good prices. On a recent Saturday night, the place was buzzing with activity as plates of sizzling fajitas and steaks went by. Weekend reservations are suggested but even a short wait for a table flies by with one of their fabulous cocktails. In fact, since my last visit, an extensive cocktail menu has been added with dozens of margaritas, mojitos, and martinis that use top shelf tequila, rum, and vodka. My ‘pink caddy’ was a fruity twist on a straight up margarita, or try a mojito flavored with mango juice, guava, or the “Millionaire Mojito” with top shelf rum and juices.

Santa Fe Steakhouse offers impeccable, friendly service and the kitchen’s attention to detail is noteworthy, from the loaf of warm bread brought to your table to the warm tortilla chips served with salsa, to the choice, aged steaks and perfectly seasoned southwestern dishes. Their Buffalo Bill chicken wings are legendary, thanks in part to the house made bleu cheese dressing that accompanies them. Everyone can share the generous helping of fried calamari with its crispy, crunchy batter. One of my favorite appetizers will always be the plump, succulent coconut shrimp with zesty sauce for dipping.

Another nice aspect of Santa Fe Steakhouse is that you can enjoy a visit here any way you’d like. Come in for cocktails, chips and salsa or munch on appetizers at the bar with friends, or maybe you’d like a couple of burgers and beers with a friend. At Santa Fe, the burgers come with your favorite toppings at no additional charge. If you feel like a complete dinner, there are plenty of choices, including their signature ribs that fall right off the bone, barbecued chicken, shrimp, tacos, burritos, fajitas, enchiladas and more to satisfy your cravings.

Private parties can be arranged for up to 30 people at Santa Fe Steakhouse in the semi-private area in the rear dining room. You can customize the menu to please your crowd and Santa Fe is the perfect, festive backdrop to celebrate your birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s Day on Thursday, February 14. The desserts are great too, including Mexican style fried ice cream, hot apple crisp, chocolate chip cookie sundae, and New York style cheesecake.

Santa Fe Steakhouse is here to serve the Forest Hills community and environs since 1994 and still going strong. Do it your way and come for cocktails and appetizers, a juicy burger, or a full meal, seven days a week. Santa Fe Steakhouse will deliver to your home or office and don’t forget to plan your next party here and make your reservation for Valentine’s Day. Hasta luego Santa Fe Steakhouse!
