State Senator Jose Peralta began delivering on November 5 donated food, clothing, water, blankets and other essentials his office collected over the previous several days for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Among the donations were $500 worth of groceries contributed by Food Bazaar, $200 worth of groceries donated by Met Food Market and a truck and driver provided by AM Home Delivery to make the deliveries. Donated non-perishable food and other essentials were collected at a variety of locations, including the Queens Center Mall, Peralta’s office and community based organizations in Jackson Heights, Corona and East Elmhurst. In addition, the office of state Senator Adriano Espaillat also collected donations.

In all, three truckloads of goods were delivered by November 6 to distressed South Queens communities.
