Assemblymembers Rory Lancman and Michael Simanowitz celebrate “It’s My Park Day” with members of the Briarwood Action Network at Hoover Park in Briarwood. Assemblymembers Rory Lancman and Michael Simanowitz partnered with members of the Briarwood Action Network to plant daffodils, paint benches, rake and clean Hoover Park in preparation for autumn.
The event was a part of a citywide community service effort, “It’s My Park Day”, to help beautify and celebrate our parks. Partnership for Parks worked with dedicated community organizations throughout the five boroughs to work on a variety of projects, ranging from horticulture to dance performances.
The event is usually conducted on a Saturday, but was moved to Sunday this year so as to involve the growing orthodox Jewish Community in Briarwood.
“I am proud to co-sponsor this It’s My Park Day event, as it brings the community together for the common purpose of beautifying Hoover Park,” said Lancman. “Every daffodil planted and every bench painted furthers our commitment to the park and the community as a whole.”
“I am happy to be able to join with the residents of Briarwood for It’s My Park Day”, said Simanowitz. “The work that we do today not only spruces up a local park, it  gives everyone in the community the opportunity to come together and give back just a little to their neighborhood. The Briarwood Action Network should be commended for bringing this great civic project to Hoover Park.”
