Local Electeds Celebrate Resident’s 100 Birthday
Councilmember Mark Weprin (D–Oakland Gardens) celebrated the 100th birthday of Fresh Meadows resident Claire Goldberg. Goldberg moved to Fresh Meadows after World War II, and has lived there for over 60 years. The birthday party was held at Fresh Meadows Senior Program at Selfhelp Community Services and attendees sang happy birthday over chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. “It is inspirational to be here and to share this milestone with a longtime neighbor,” said Weprin. Selfhelp Community Services is a non-profit organization established in 1936 with a mission to maintain the independence and dignity of seniors. It operates a senior program at 67-00 192nd St. in Fresh Meadows. Martha Taylor, Weprin, Assemblymember David Weprin, state Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Claire Goldberg and friends pause for photos.
