LIC Partnership Exec Director Gayle Baron To Be Honored
On September 13 at Anable Basin Bar and Grill, Gayle Baron will be presented an award and honored at Long Island City YMCA’s annual Frank Tempone Service Leader Award. Baron is the executive director of the Long Island City Business Improvement District, and the President of the Long Island City Business Development Corporation (LICBDC). She is also the co-chair of the New York City BID Managers Association. Baron is playing an integral role in the area’s renaissance. Under Baron’s leadership, the LICBDC spearheaded the creation of the BID in 2005.
The Long Island City YMCA’s service award was named in honor of the late Frank Tempone, long-time executive director of the Long Island City YMCA and who was one of the leading advocates for a stronger Long Island City community. Tempone also was active with the Long Island City Lions Club and the Queens Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the award is to recognize community leaders that are making an impactful difference in Long Island City. This year’s Frank Tempone Service Leader Award also coincides with the 160-year anniversary of the YMCA of Greater New York.
Proceeds from the award’s reception help raise funds and awareness for the importance of YMCA’s youth programs, serving 10,000 nationwide children yearly. Tickets are on sale for $125 per person.
